ABOUT

The Castle Rock Youth Symphony is an audition-based student ensemble in Castle Rock, Colorado.  We rehearse weekly and perform seasonally.  The students range in age, but primarily consists of high schoolers.  We play college/professional level music, and are unique in that all students participate because they enjoy it!  We work to keep it that way by choosing music that is fun and exciting to play!  If you would like to meet and play for our director to help determine if the group would be a good fit, please contact us.

Alan Ogrinz

Director

Alan is an experienced musician and teacher of many ages and abilities. He began learning the violin from the Suzuki Method at age four.  Alan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance.  While pursuing a Master of Music degree at Colorado State University, Alan held the position of First Violinist of the Graduate String Quartet and Concertmaster of the Colorado State University Orchestra.  Alan has studied privately with Dr. Ron Francois (Colorado State University), and Jeri Jorgensen (co-founder and former first violinist of the Da Vinci Quartet).  His education also included four months in Milan, Italy, where he studied at the Accademia Internazionale Della Musica with violinist Carlo Feige.

Since finishing his studies, Alan has turned his attention toward teaching in Castle Rock, where he lives with his wife and son.  In addition to a full-time private studio, he founded and directs the Castle Rock Youth Symphony.  Alan feels incredibly blessed to be able to share his gift of music with others.
